Come along and learn to play

Our bateria (“band”) is accessible to all. It is multi-ability and we have a wide range of ages who play with us. With careful management, and due to the way samba works, it is easy to spread members around so less-experienced people get the support they need, and more-experienced players can still feel challenged.

We currently rehearse every Wednesday evening, between 7:00 and 9:00pm at Holmfirth Civic Hall, HD9 3AS. There is ample free parking in the Co-op carpark, barely a 30 second walk from our rehearsal room. The access to the building is also ramped for excellent access for wheelchair users.

You are welcome to wander down on a Wednesday evening to meet us, but we do suggest you drop us a line before hand just to let us know you’re coming. You can e-mail on hello@huddersfieldsamba.co.uk, or text/call 07792 174863.

Your first session will be completely free. No pressure, no obligation. In the unlikely event that you don’t enjoy yourself, there’s nothing lost. We can lend you an instrument to use during rehearsals so you don’t even need to invest unless you wish to take it further and practice at home.

Because our sessions are based around a group tuition model, rather than one-to-one, they are very reasonably priced. You can pay on a week-by-week basis if you wish, or you can save money paying by monthly direct debit payments. We also offer a discount for concessions.
